  1. Microsoft needs a Browser based Forms Editor

We need a forms solution that isn't just limited to PCs and is not part of the Office Application family. We are talking about tools for SharePoint, it makes no sense that SPD, Access, and InfoPath are required to extend SharePoint. This approach also creates all kinds of issues for large organizations which are still using Office 2010.

    Thanks.

    • User Profile Information is very important for internal forms

There needs to be an easy way to populate a form with associated user profile information. So having the submitters department, phone #, and email auto-populated for example.

Or being able to populate the user profile information for people selected in a people picker field.

Although both possible in InfoPath, it was very complicated and hard to teach to all the form builders in our organization.

      • Allow Easy Way for Conditional Formatting

Conditional formatting is one of the key things that power users tend to do within forms. In many cases they want to be able to change a list value and have a resulting color or image be displayed. Very similar to how the logic rules work in InfoPath. They request this so they can give a “visual representation” typically to management. In most cases it is part of the process of pushing information up the chain and removing most of the noise.

Thank you for sharing! We’re always looking at understanding the feature sets that folks would find value in having as an out of the box feature of the platform. We’ll pass this along to the engineering teams. We’ll also update the blogs here at http://blogs.office.com with any news.

        • Seamless integration with SharePoint Workflow

On the bigger picture, we also need a workflow solution to create LOB based SharePoint Apps easily with built in support for workflow.

          • Support all managed metadata fields and list columns in forms including parent child relationships.

Managed metadata fields have not been previously support so all the work you put into your term store doesn't translate into the form experience easily. Lets support consistent, enterprise information architecture by fixing this.

sorry but this access based wave is so pre-2000.
Microsoft needs something for the next years, no a go back to RAD over Relational.

These are definitely some of the more highly asked for features, thank you very much for sharing! We are in communications and discussions with the LightSwitch team. However, please keep in mind that the LightSwitch set of tools is for professional developers, where we see Forms vNext really being mostly for Information Workers. We’ll be updating everyone on http://blogs.office.com/ with the latest when we have it to share. Also, thanks for mentioning the Bootstrap library. We are encouraging and embracing the use of any 3rd party JS library that is relevant to the app that folks are building.

                  • Digital Signature, Responsive HTML Forms, Aggregate Rows, Data Bindings to List Meta-Data, Package and Publish as Office Document/PDF

Forms need to work on all devices - responsive design.

Need easy to aggregate repeating sections in forms (totals).

Need data bindings into List Item meta data (document properties), and associated wizard like controls.

Need to be able to publish to variety of Office Documents or PDF.

OOTB infrastructure for digital signatures would remove much paperwork.

                    • Allow for multiple data connections, INCLUDING the email type

The ability to have the form itself send an email via button click (using the email submit data connection) has saved my LOADS of workflow time. It's worked great for simple notifications, and gives me more formatting options as well.

                      • Improve security features on forms

A very common requirement from organisations is "could you hide field X for users who are not a manager?". Although there are solutions out there, field based security is really something which should be considered. The new forms functionality should support some set of security measures which make it possible to do a very basic form of security when inserting, editing or viewing an item. And that should be on a field level, not per content type / item or library.

Could also be implemented in SharePoint itself but then the forms solution should support it.

                        • Allow for more than 2 levels in "Group By" in list and library views.

It is possible to add more columns to the filter section in views. It is very restrictive to only be able to group by 2 levels. There is an enormous business requirement to be able to group by more.

                          • Provide a Form Solution beyond lists...

InfoPath has been a great form solution for what it was supposed to do. That is, enabling information worker to provide a simple interface to use data from lists, have relationships, dependencies, permissions etc.

Times have changed. One of the pre-requisite is if the forms are available and "presentable" on mobile devices.

Another, data source is not just limited to SP Lists. It could be coming in Web Service, OData Feed, External SQL Data or you name it.

Ability to consolidate or roll up/down. That is, think beyond just a form but start looking how does it can fit it…

SharePoint supports LightSwitch today. It meets all the needs of a modern forms solution - but there is a lot that could be done to improve the experience (a web based editor, offline support) that both teams could use.

                                • Support MUI

InfoPath DIP today does NOT support MUI, it's possible to quirk around with xml files and translating manually, but in a scenario where SharePoint already supports MUI on fields/content-types etc. this creates more hassle than you want. Whatever you do with the DIP, make it easier to support MUI, preferrably by using resources already in SharePoint.

                                  • Keep views, switch view action, and buttons

The ability to set up different form views, and use the "Switch views" action via button is crucial. Also would be great to create Onload rules that opens specified view.

                                    • Implement the ability to email a completed form as a PDF

I have a HR team that have a HRIS outside of SharePoint. We do however use SharePoint for travel requests forms, time off request forms and tuition reimbursement. It would be nice to be able to email HR a copy of a completed form to file in our external HRIS.

                                      • Migration tool for basic forms to FoSL

An area that will be critical for site owners, especially in "forced" migrations like O365 will be how easy will it be to migrate out of InfoPath forms.

This is not a one size fits all scenario but having a migration tool for migration of "basic" forms (e.g. non-relational, single data source, etc.) will be essential for speeding migrations in the cloud and even on-prem instances.

Having the migration tool for these more basic forms should also help calm the nerves that are on edge out in the larger business user community as a result of InfoPath being deemed end…

Thank you for your suggestion. We are actively thinking through the possibilities for various migration paths from InfoPath to the various other Forms vNext solutions. To set expectations, this is a lot of work (and therefore requires more time/planning/consideration), but we know that many people are asking for it.  Feature announcements are always posted on our blog (http://blogs.office.com), so keep an eye out there for more details.

                                        • Handle parent-child relationships for list forms

InfoPath never had an elegant solution for collecting data for related SharePoint list items. Think of a registration form where a company registers with multiple attendees, or other one-to-many use cases. To date, it has not been possible to handle without code.
